Saddle Up For Epilepsy Cycle

‘Saddle up for Epilepsy ‘, a national Charity cycle in aid of Epilepsy Ireland, takes place this Saturday February 25th.
Starting at Breaffy sports arena. This brilliantly organised local event was an enormous success in 2016, with over 400 cyclists taking to the roads of Mayo, and raising over €24 k for Epilepsy Ireland.

Last year, Rua helped out with the event on the day by organising a ‘POWER PORRIDGE’ station in Breaffy Sports arena on the morning of the cycle to help fuel all the cyclists hitting the road for the day. This year, we’re extremely proud to asked back and as well as our ‘Porridge Station’,  we will also be there with our local coffee supplier, Aaron Page from Westport’s BEAN WEST roastery.

We’re also really proud of our Rua team members getting on their bikes for the day and best of luck to Ann, Risa, Carol Anne and John who have been busy over the last few weeks getting in the training runs as they prepare for the event on Saturday.

Please support this great local event and visit saddleupforepilepsy.com where you can still sign up for the cycle or make a donation to the event.

We’d also like to acknowledge the efforts of event orgainiser and her team,  Brenda Quigg. Brenda’s dynamism and energy have been an inspiration to all involved with the cycle and we’ve really enjoyed working with her on the event.

See you on Saturday – we’ll have the banana bread, ‘ Power Porridge’ and Bean West coffee ready to go from 8 am!

Latte Art

Rua Coffee

We are delighted to be working with local coffee roasters Bean West from Westport who roast and deliver our coffee to each cafe weekly. We worked with Aaron from Bean West to create a custom blend for our cafes and delicatessen.

This espresso blend is also available to take home in retail bags of whole and ground beans and is packaged in recyclable bags.

Aaron worked as a barista in New Zealand for many years and it’s here he also learned the art of roasting coffee. Aaron Best WestAaron imports green beans which come from small independent farms around the world and hand roasts all his coffees on a Giesen roaster.

We love the idea of our coffee being roasted just down the road and being delivered weekly by Bean West which allows us to chat weekly to our roaster who visits both Spencer Street and New Antrim Street with deliveries…if we have any queries we can chat to Aaron directly who takes the time to train all our team members in house too.

All our takeout coffees come with a chunk of our home-made shortbread…don’t forget your loyalty card!
